Kōnane

The Hawaiian game of jumps. Every move takes a stone. The last player who can move wins.

Play

Your move — tap a ringed stone.

Learn it in a minute

Stones jump over a neighbour into the empty space beyond, and the stone they jump is removed. There are no other moves. When you have no jump left, you have lost.

From the islands

Kōnane is native to Hawaiʻi and unlike any game played elsewhere. It was played on carved stone boards with black lava and white coral, and it very nearly disappeared.
